| Subject: How To Fix Multitasking on iPod touch 2G with iOS 4.2.1 25th September 2011, 9:41 pm | |
| When Apple released iOS 4.2.1 (last update for 2nd Generation Devices), many iPod touch second-generation and iPhone 3G users jailbroke their device to enable features in iOS 4 that their devices are missing out on. However, many users noticed that multitasking was broken in iOS 4.2.1 on these devices, even if you enable it. Basically what happened is that Apple changed the way graphics are handled in iOS 4.2, and thus, breaking the feature for older devices since they were not made to run multitasking anyways. Here's how to get Multitasking working again on your iPhone 3G or iPod touch 2G running iOS 4.2.1 : 1. iFile is highly recommended for the Fix, it is available from Cydia.2. Navigate to the following path in iFile : - Quote :
- /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/N72AP.plist (for iPod touch 2G) or N82AP.plist (for iPhone 3G)
3. Open file using Text Editor.4. Tap on “Edit” and look for : - Code:
-
<key>multitasking</key>
<false/> and change the - Code:
-
<false/> to <true/> . If it is already , no need to make changes. Then it should look like : - Code:
-
<key>multitasking</key>
<true/> 5. Next, Look for the following line: - Code:
-
<key>opengles-1</key> <true/> Copy the string and change it to opengles-2Finally, it should look like : - Code:
-
<key>opengles-1</key> <true/> <key>opengles-2</key> <true/> 6. Save the file and restart/respring your iDevice, and see if multitasking is working again. |
