Sticky Topics: http://www.apple.com/stevejobs/Steve Jobs1955-2011 Apple co-founder and Chairman Steve Jobs died today, Apple said. He was 56. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives," Apple said in a statement. "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve." Jobs had been suffering from various health issues following the seventh anniversary of his surgery for a rare form of pancreatic cancer in August 2004.... |
Apple will be hosting its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco from June 11 through June 15 at the Moscone West Convention Center. Apple announced the event on Wednesday, finally bringing an end to speculation surrounding when the event would take place. “We have a great WWDC planned this year and can’t wait to share the latest news about iOS and OS X Mountain Lion with developers,” commented Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller. In an attempt to push people towards iCloud and away from the imminently defunct MobileMe, Apple is reportedly offering users of the old cloud syncing service a free copy of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. With MobileMe set to be switched off for good in June, Apple knows that it needs to give people a helping hand towards the new iCloud service which needs OS X 10.7 Lion to function properly. The problem is, you need to have Snow Leopard installed in order to upgrade to Lion. Now Apple... |
Apple's late founder Steve Jobs has been the subject of a previous biopic, Pirates of Silicon Valley, not to mention tons of documentaries. Now, Jobs' early life at Apple will once again get the film treatment with the upcoming release of Jobs: Get Inspired (working title). The independent film generated waves a few weeks ago when it was announced that Ashton Kutcher would be playing the lead role. We got a chance to ask some questions about Jobs: Get Inspired to the film's producer Mark Hulme... |
Much discussion surrounding Apple’s ecosystem lately has been about them cutting the cord to the computer through iCloud. However, iTunes remains an important product that some may still need to use (or want to, if they haven’t gone entirely to the cloud). And, with that being said, 9to5Mac are hearing from some sources close to Apple that the company has begun seeding iTunes 11 – the next major release of the software – internally.
So, what’s new thus far in these very early builds? 9to5Mac notes that the current focus of iTunes 11 is with under-the-hood software changes rather than... |
With the iPad release cycle well and truly behind us for another year, the focus of the tech industry is now firmly toward the Cupertino company’s other big iDevice release, which is, of course, the next iPhone.
Information has been scarce hitherto, however information gathered by the folks of 9to5mac suggests Apple is already internally testing a next-gen iPhone. Although the design is expected to eventually deviate from the current iPhone 4(S) form factor, the prototypes are shelled to look identical to the current range – throwing the eager tech world off the scent.

Apple is on the verge of doing what few others have: change the English language. When you have a boo-boo, you reach for a Band-Aid not a bandage. When you need to blow your nose, you ask for Kleenex not tissue. If you decide to look up something online, you Google instead of search for it. And if you want to buy a tablet computer, there's a good chance there's only one name you'll remember. "For the vast majority, the idea of a tablet is really captured by the idea of an iPad,'"... |
For Apple aficionados, here's good news: iPhone 5 is reportedly set to launch in the coming June. According to a report in CNet, Apple is likely to launch its next-generation iPhone during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) scheduled for June 11 to 15, 2012. The report quotes a television report by TV Tokyo in which a Foxconn recruiter has claimed that Apple plans to hire some 18,000 workers to meet its June deadline for iPhone 5 manufacturing. Foxconn Technology... |
Apple's share price touched the $600 mark as trading opened this morning, just a month after reaching $500/share for the first time. The stock has, however, pulled back slightly since the open and now sits at $594. The stock price has been on a tear ever since Apple reported blowout earnings for the first fiscal quarter of 2012, rising nearly $180/share, or close to 40%, in under two months. At the end of February, Apple broke through the important psychological... |
Apple have just published a new advertisement showing off the new iPad in action. In typical Apple fashion, the ad focuses on one particular feature of the new tablet, which in this case is the high-resolution Retina Display. The ad perfectly shows off the prowess of the high-res display and its amazingness in real life. The video, embedded below does a great job at showing off how these improvements in the new iPad really boost the quality of the user experience in day-to-day use. |
Based on Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming technology which required a Mac or iOS device running Safari, Apple streamed the September 2010 iPod music event as well as “Back to the Mac” in October 2010, but didn’t provide a live stream for the iPad 2 launch, iOS 5 preview, and iPhone 4S launch last year. It seems that there won’t be a public live stream of iPad HD event, instead Apple is expected to make streaming and downloadable versions of the event available a few hours after the keynote.
